Active PD Clinical Trials Worldwide

Note: Interventional studies in Phase 1, 2 or 3 evaluate the safety and efficacy of a medication, device, or procedure for the treatment of a medical condition.  Phase 4 studies further evaluate a drug or device that has already been FDA-approved.  Studies with no phase specified can include evaluations of interventions such as exercise, physical therapy, speech therapy, dietary supplements and more.

About PDTrialTracker.info

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a progressive neurological disorder affecting an estimated 1 million people in the United States and 7 to 10 million people worldwide.  

PDTrialTracker.info provides Parkinson's patients, families, researchers, health care providers, and other interested members of the PD community with analysis of ongoing PD clinical trials and observational studies throughout the world in order to help:

• understand the types of trials underway and where they are in the pipeline,
  
• highlight the most promising avenues of research (e.g., particular disease modifying therapies, symptomatic treatments),
  
• uncover roadblocks in the trial process and ways to address them (e.g., improving trial designs),
  
• promote accurate and timely sharing of trial information for ongoing and completed trials (on ClinicalTrials.gov and in journal publications),
  
• facilitate greater collaboration between Parkinson's patients, families, researchers, and physicians to accelerate progress towards a cure.
  

Trial Data

Clinical trial data on PDTrialTracker.info is obtained from the ClinicalTrials.gov database, a web-based resource that provides information to the public, free of charge, on publicly and privately supported clinical studies on a wide range of diseases and conditions.  Launched in February 2000, ClinicalTrials.gov is maintained by the National Library of Medicine at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Clinical trial data available on ClinicalTrials.gov is submitted directly by each study's sponsor or principal investigator.  To date, over 3300 Parkinson's disease trials/studies from around the world have been listed on ClinicalTrials.gov, with over 800 of these currently active.  

Analysis

PDTrialTracker monitors and analyzes Parkinson's disease clinical trials that are in-progress, that is, i) currently recruiting, ii) active, but not yet recruiting, iii) enrolling by invitation or iv) active, not recruiting.  

High-level charts of the trial pipeline provide overall views of the number, types and locations of trials being conducted.  You can drill-down into specific trials of interest through pre-set filters, such as trial phase and recruiting status, that link directly to trial details on ClinicalTrials.gov.  Trial descriptions include the study purpose, methodology, inclusion/exclusion criteria, outcome measures, contact information, and locations.​

Studies with multiple locations are included in each region containing locations.
